My Focus Estate on the forecourt at GK |
Dave's Focus TDdi
Estate
This page is about my Ford Focus 1800 LX It's turbo
diesel intercooled, I went to my local ford dealer, who didn't have anything
on site I wanted, but did arrange to have a diesel estate specially
delivered to them for me to look at. It was just about what I wanted. I saw the car in the
last few days of December '03, The delivery date 6th January '04. The Estate
was first registered in October 2000. The Focus replaces my
Fiesta TDCi which was one of my favourite cars I've
owned, but I decided to trade it in on the Focus mainly because the Fiesta
TDCi was a bit too small.

Buying & the Test Drive
I'm not really the person to judge a car by a
short test drive, especially when the sales rep, sorry, or
should I say 'sales executive' as they are now known coming out
with all sorts of useless jargon and information. I myself have
been in the motor trade for many years as a mechanic but, boy,
these sales executives even baffle me with science so how the
hell the average man on the street can understand it all is
beyond me!! Seriously though joking apart, the guys at GK Ford
are excellent & I have to say I have
been a customer of
GK Ford for a number of years now, and I have always been
treated very well, and the after sales care is unbeatable which
is the main reason I only buy a car from GK. I managed to get a
free stereo CD player into the deal seeing as it had a cassette
player in.
I
promised myself that the next car I bought would have air
conditioning, after a red hot summer and being stuck on Belgian
motorway in a traffic jam for hours, in temperatures of 35'C in
mid September 2003 wasn't much fun I can tell you.

First impressions
- Pretty good!!
The Focus has mostly what I wanted in a car, I decided to go for an
estate (I must be getting old wanting an estate family car) for the
extra luggage space. Also it has got column mounted stereo controls,
remote control central locking.
My estate has the 90PS Endura Di engine, which is direct injection
with 22,500 miles on the clock at purchase, Obviously it is
bigger and more spacious than the '02' plate new shape
fiesta that I traded in
to get the focus though the focus is only 20 months older than the
Fiesta, the seats are comfier, the ride is really smooth, and I have
plenty of room seeing as I am quite tall & broad shouldered. The
focus estate has air con as well what I wanted. I'm not really an
estate person, but I was impressed with the amount of luggage space,
I had a focus estate TDCi as a courtesy car a couple of months
before buying mine, and was the main reason for buying one.
